It was the day of Indian Premier League auctions. The owners of the IPL teams that included some celebrities as well got together at Mumbai’s Hilton Towers. More than 70 players from different test playing cricket nations were on sale for the takers. Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the most wanted man on the day with the bid going upto $1.5 Million, Symonds a near second with $1.35 Million. The top three of the Indian cricket - Sachin, Saurav and Dravid were kept as icon players. There was no bidding for the icon players as they were supposed to play for their respective cities. The surprise of the day was Mcgrath who found no takers in the first round of bid. The first match of IPL will take place on April 18th 2008.

Congratulations to India on a well deserved win over Sri Lanka. Finally, it was Yuvraj’s turn to get among the runs. Dhoni played well for his fifty, sticking around with the tailenders in a match that went to the wire. Earlier in the match Kumar Sangakkara made a century and was very impressive with his cricketing skills. He along with captain Jayawardene came in a tight situation when Sri Lanka were reeeling at 6 for 2 after 3 overs. They went to put a 153 runs partnership that laid the foundation of their 238 score.
Now Sri Lanka will have to play well against Australia on friday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the ninth odi if they wish to qualify for the finals.
